So this is it. You might have missed it during your vacations, but in August Waymo and Cruise have been handed the golden ticket to unleash their robotaxis on San Francisco's streets 24/7.

We're talking about a six-hour symphony of a public hearing that was as riveting as a Netflix binge โ€“ residents gave standing ovations and stern rebukes like it was the climax of a blockbuster. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) weighed in with a 3-to-1 victory dance for the companies, granting them carte blanche to ferry passengers and cash in at all hours.
