As I’m heading to give another 3 days MBA class on business models in Paris tomorrow, I’m preparing to exchange on many strategic topics. While there are quite a few very effective tools to help managers get a solid grip on no non-sense strategy, the one thing that is always elusive is focus.

How do you create focus in your company? How do you share it with your team and make sure they are empowered to deliver it at scale?

When trying to explain this, I often go back to this quote:

When I started on Disneyland, my wife used to say, ‘But why do you want to build an amusement park? They’re so dirty.’ I told her that was just the point; mine wouldn’t be.Walt Disney

A bit more than 65 years later and through different leaderships, this focus has evolved and morphed. But is still there. Think about all the work and the on-going dedication that brings tens of millions of people to experience this kind of moment:

It’s always  the « simple things » that end up being the hardest.
